Minoxidil Signature Spray

Minoxidil 5%, tretinoin 0.01%, caffeine 0.2% and melatonin 0.1%. A combination formula has its own directions; do not copy the dose or frequency from a different minoxidil product.

Use only the amount and frequency on your prescription or product label. If the directions are missing or unclear, ask your pharmacist or prescriber before using it. Another brand’s spray may have different directions.

Apply only to the area directed, avoid your eyes and wash your hands after use. Do not use extra to make up for a missed dose. Read the full warnings below before starting.

The first weeks often bring more shedding rather than less. That is the treatment pushing resting follicles into a new growth cycle, and it settles. Earliest regrowth is usually around two months, and four months is the point at which it is fair to judge whether you are responding. Tretinoin adds dryness, flaking and sun sensitivity of its own in the early weeks.

Results depend on continued use. Stop, and the hair you gained goes back over the following three to four months.

You can choose your shampoo and face care separately. You do not need to add every product in the range. Ask your clinician before combining this treatment with other scalp treatments or a dermaroller.

For external use only. For use by men only. Flammable, so keep it away from fire or flame. Do not use it if your hair loss is sudden or patchy, if there is no family history of hair loss, if the reason for your hair loss is unknown, if you are under 18, or if your scalp is red, inflamed, infected, irritated or painful. Ask a doctor before use if you have heart disease. Avoid contact with the eyes and rinse with cool water if it happens. This product may be harmful if used during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Stop use and ask a doctor if you get chest pain, a rapid heartbeat, faintness or dizziness; if you gain weight suddenly; if your hands or feet swell; if your scalp becomes irritated or red; if you grow unwanted facial hair; or if you see no hair regrowth after four months.

If you live with a cat, read this. Minoxidil is severely toxic to cats, and the exposure does not have to be direct. In a review of poison-control cases, the most common route was transfer from the owner's own treated skin or bedding, and around one in eight affected cats died. A cat that brushes against a treated scalp, sleeps on the pillowcase or licks a sleeve can take in enough to be poisoned. Keep cats away from the treated area until it is completely dry, wash your hands straight after applying, and wash pillowcases and towels separately. If your cat is exposed, treat it as an emergency and call a vet.

If there is a baby or a small child in the house. Cases of unwanted hair growth have been reported in infants after skin contact with an adult using topical minoxidil, including through shared bedding and clothing rather than direct application. Let it dry completely before you hold a child, wash your hands straight afterwards, keep treated bedding and towels away from them, and do not let a child touch the treated area. The effect reverses once the exposure stops, but it is worth avoiding in the first place.

This formula is compounded. Tretinoin increases skin sensitivity to sunlight, so use sunscreen on exposed skin, and stop using it and speak to a doctor if your skin becomes persistently sore rather than simply dry.
